Growing up in an impoverished household, Randy's somewhat bleak childhood was made brighter through his desire and efforts to excel in school. Going to school, Randy embraced education and every aspect of his drama and language arts classes. Eventually, Randy learned to use his strong imagination as a distraction from his sometimes dismal surroundings. Soon, Randy developed a true love for writing and storytelling. Writing stories became a welcomed and much-needed escape from the periodic harsh realities of his childhood.

Randy Camp graduated from Spotsylvania Senior High on June 15, 1979 as an Honor Graduate. He graduated 50th in a total class of 380. Randy's GPA was 3.13
