Literary Works by Randy Camp

Set in rural Virginia, ‘FALSE DANDELIONS’ is a contemporary Southern crime fiction novel filled with romance, small town secrets, broken dreams and murder as locals from Spotsylvania County and Fredericksburg, including a young disabled Iraq war veteran, stop a misguided band of Washington, DC criminals from setting up shop in their quiet town. When Lamar returned home from Iraq they gave him a hero’s welcome but he actually never felt like a true hero until he pulled off his greatest mission ever. A mission that will make this disabled vet a local legend, and a mission that will literally blow you away. Jesse is a rising star but when his mother’s body was found in the murky waters of the Rappahannock, he trades his prized guitar for a shotgun. Ever since Turtle was little, he was always somebody’s errand boy. Now, twenty years later, he decides to break the mold and that is just the beginning of many mistakes Turtle will make. Randolph Randy Camp’s ‘FALSE DANDELIONS’ is about the lives and dreams of underdogs. When you’re stuck in a nowhere place, physically or mentally, you dream of leaving. When you’ve been a nobody and strive to become somebody, sometimes you succeed, sometimes you don’t. Once again, this prolific award-winning writer paints a straight forward picture of contemporary Southern life and reminds us that, regardless of your income or race, there’s a touch of Jesse in all of us and there’s a little Turtle in all of us.
‘FALSE DANDELIONS’ is available in paperback and eBook (Kindle) on Amazon.

BRIEF BIO OF RANDY

Randolph Randy Camp was born on March 12, 1961. He was raised in rural Spotsylvania County, Virginia. Growing up in an impoverished household, Randy's somewhat bleak childhood surroundings was made brighter through his desire and efforts to excel in school.  Going to school, Randy embraced education and every aspect of his drama and language arts classes. Eventually, Randy learned to use his strong imagination as a distraction from his sometimes dismal environment.  Soon, Randy developed an absolute love for writing and storytelling.  Writing stories became a welcomed and much-needed escape from the somewhat  harsh realities of his childhood.

After graduating with honors from Spotsylvania Senior High School in June 1979, Randy joined the US Air Force and traveled the globe, going from one Air Force Base to another. During his off-duty time, Randy continued his love of writing and wrote numerous short stories while living in tent cities and barracks on various military bases around the world.  While stationed at Kadena Air Force Base on Okinawa Japan, Randy enrolled in University of Maryland University College during 1980 and 1981. Always having a thirst for knowledge, Randy attends Erie Community College in Buffalo, New York where he acquires an Associate of Science Degree in the field of Mental Health Studies and Substance Abuse Counseling (2013). Randy has five daughters Natasha, Melinda, Christina, Randie, Ranielle and one son Joshua.

After leaving the US Air Force,  some of Randy's short stories developed into his current list of feature-length screenplays and published novels.  Randy was a Quarter-Finals Winner in 2007's Writers Network 14th Annual Screenplay and Fiction Competition. Randy's two stories "WET MATCHES" and "...THEN THE RAIN" were the Quarter-Finals Winners in that competition.
